WHAT IS ULTEM?
Ultem is an engineered plastic also known as Polyetherimide (PEI). It is an amorphous plastic that offers high strength, excellent chemical resistance with a high service temperature. It has a distinct amber-to-transparent color. It is commonly used in autoclave applications, high voltage circuit breaker components, and jet engine components. In the fountain pen world, it is used because of its attractive amber color and excellent mechanical properties. It is stronger than acrylic and other resins and excellent for precision machining.
The ITALIA fountain pen is a modern writing instrument inspired by the golden age of Italian pens. It has a minimalistic design with peaked finials and a classic Greek key machined on the cap and section. A matte black PVD coated stainless steel clip compliments the design.
This pen comes equipped with a large #6 nib in black PVD stainless steel with an German iridium point. The pen accepts standard international ink cartridges (short and long) and standard ink converters for bottled ink. The pen can also be used as eyedropper as o-rings have been placed in the section. Silicon grease needs to be applied to the nib unit threads and section threads if used as eyedropper.
